The natural environment and groups of people are much the same-- often unpredictable, have an incredible teaching ability, and are a whole lot of fun. Put the two together and you have the potential to accomplish amazing things.

  • We're All In

We have chosen to truly live up to the standard of “We’re ALL In.” We can proudly say that today we uphold this bar by hiking or climbing or paddling or riding on our own time, not only because we expect it but because we simply love to. Today (and we expect tomorrow to be the same) we’re All In – truly 100% engaged.

  • Our Responsibility to Our Environment

We LOVE the places where we work and play. That’s the easy part. When you love something, certain responsibilities follow – like guardianship, protection, and stewardship. It’s impossible for us (or anyone) to ‘do no harm’ to the places we love. We should balance providing the highest quality experience for our participants with doing the least amount of harm. That’s the hard part.

  • Student Open Trips

Outdoor adventure? Check. On the weekends? Sure are. For MC class credit? You bet. Anyone can sign up -- so make sure to scope out our Open Trip Schedule to see the next time you're available to join in on the fun!

  • Mountain Challenge: In the News

As part of their "Spirit of East Tennessee" series, WATE-TV shared Mountain Challenge's belief that a sound mind and sound body go together. It highlights our 25th anniversary and the depth of the program for our students at Maryville College. Click Above to Check It Out!

180 Degrees from the Norm

"We provide high quality, safe outdoor experiences designed to change the world for the better, one person at a time."

The natural environment and groups of people are much the same– often unpredictable, have an incredible teaching ability, and are a whole lot of fun. Put the two together and you have the potential to accomplish amazing things. Mountain Challenge teaches group facilitation techniques, with a twist– our training is outside.
At first glance, our courses may appear to be a jumbled collection of awkwardly placed logs, cables and boards set haphazardly in the woods. And, if we’re being honest, they pretty much are, but with much intention behind their layout.
Our courses are designed to challenge their participants–whether you’re a sports team, a student group, a church ministry, or corporate coworkers–to think and act creatively when faced with difficult (and sometimes bizarre) tasks. While we understand you’re probably never going to be faced directly with most of the stuff we throw at you, we think you’d be surprised how much you can learn (and how much fun you can have) as you balance, clamber and sing your way to success.
